Social Commerce, Game Profiles & LLM-Native Docs

Now expanded: Discord Social Commerce

People already gift on Discord every day and with Social Commerce, that now extends to in-game items. In the Marvel Rivals rollout, 41% of purchases were gifts, and 25% of those buying gifts had either never played or had stopped playing. They showed up not as existing players, but because someone they care about added a new skin to their Wishlist or shared excitement for an upcoming item with their friends. With Discord Social Commerce, items live across your official server's Game Shop, DMs, voice channels, and Wishlists on player profiles. When a player wants to gift a skin to a friend mid-conversation, they just do it, no app switching, no leaving the chat. For you, this is incremental and complementary to your existing shop: it reaches people and moments your in-game store never would.

At GDC, we announced we're opening Discord Social Commerce to a limited group of partners and expanding from there. If you're interested, reach out to our team directly.

Updated Developer Docs

We're investing in the developer experience so that integrating with Discord is as straightforward as possible, and that means building for how you actually work today. So we've completely overhauled the developer documentation.

The new docs are easier to navigate and designed around how developers build. We've also made them LLM-native with support for LLMs.txt and MCP, so your AI-powered dev tools can interface with our documentation directly. No more copy-pasting reference pages or hoping your coding assistant has the right context.

Stay up-to-date with our latest developer platform announcements and API changes by following the change log.

Lastly, for those who tl;dr, we’ve embedded some helpful Dev Bytes tutorial videos covering key topics.
